Senior Cameron Aderholt has built his athletic career on determination, grit, and hard work—traits most evident in football, his favorite sport. While the Winston County High School standout has proven himself as a three-sport athlete, earning honors in basketball and track as well, it’s football that has fueled his competitive fire.

Earning First Team All-State honors in 2024 and 2025, Cameron has played both sides of the ball for the Yellow Jackets. As a running back, he was the team’s leading rusher, amassing 1206 yards on 132 carries, while scoring 24 TDs. Dominating at defensive end, he recorded 101 tackles, 11 sacks, and forced multiple fumbles and recoveries.

Cameron and his teammates also earned WCHS’s first-ever region football championship and the highest winning percentage in school history. He played a critical role in helping Winston County to post its first-ever undefeated regular season in 2024, as the team finished with a 12-1 record.

Yet Cameron stays humble, pointing to his favorite part of playing sports: the opportunity to represent his school. Cameron recalls the atmosphere of games, saying, “There’s so many people in the stands, it amps everyone up more. It brings so many people together.”

He credits much of his growth to his football coach, Caleb Simmons, and praises the way he coaches and leads by example. That leadership has shaped Cameron not only as a player, but as a teammate, showing in his role as team captain.

Cameron also expresses a special appreciation for his mom and dad for their constant support along the way, and looks up to NFL star Derrick Henry. “I love to watch him play because he runs hard and hits hard. He’s just a good ball player,” Cameron said.

Now, he’s one step closer to achieving his boyhood dream of playing college football. Cameron, who first stepped onto the field at just five years old, recently received an offer from Lyon College in Arkansas and is eager for more opportunities ahead.

Above all, Cameron wants to leave a legacy at his alma mater through being remembered as a team player—an athlete who led, worked hard, and gave his all for his team. 67
